Buick Envision

In 2016, Buick gave us the Envision. The Envision is the third Buick SUV that fits nicely in between the Encore and the Enclave. The 2016 Envision is first vehicle that General Motors has built in China, and soon Cadillac will be producing the CT6 Plug-In Hybrid in China as well. 2016 was the test year to see how receptive the market was to a Chinese-made vehicle, and it went over well, so 2017 they plan on knocking it out of the park.

The first major change in the 2017 Buick Envision is the price, the base price for 2016 was $42,995, but Buick is slashing that price to a much more manageable base starting price of $34,990. Buick is giving customers wider selection when it comes to trim levels as well, five trim levels are now available: base, Preferred, Essence, Premium I, and Premium II. The lower three trims are new for 2017.

The Envision also has the option for two different engines, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that provides 197 horsepower and a 2.0-liter turbo 4 with 252 horsepower. Both engines come with a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.0-liter exclusively ships with all-wheel drive.

2017 also brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, plus a teen driver feature that's already offered on a handful of Chevrolet models. The function lets parents keep track of the distance driven, the maximum speed traveled, how often the driver went above the speed limit, and the number of times the various driving aids (such as forward collision alert) turned on. Parents can also set a maximum speed.

Standard safety includes 10 airbags, safety-belt pretensioners and load-limiters, a rearview camera and rear park assist. Electronic driver aids are available including collision warning, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot and lane departure warning systems.

Cadillac Takes Us Into The Future

This year at Monterey Car Week, Cadillac gave a glimpse into what the future will hold for their brand, the Escala. The Cadillac Escala concept was unveiled on August 18th to much fan-fare and praise, and dealerships and customers are chomping at the bit.

The Cadillac Escale concept is a radical departure from the current line on Cadillacs. The exterior relies heavily of Asian influences. The next generation CTS, being redubbed the CT5, will most likely experience the same styling shift.

"The design language is the first thing. Exterior design and interior design concepts are already being incorporated in the vehicles that are in development right now."
-Johan de Nysschen, Cadillac's president

The plan is for the Escala to be built on the CT6 platform. The CT6 is a standard sedan, and the Escala is 6-inches longer and will employ a liftback design. The concept car uses a prototype twin-turbocharged 4.2-liter V-8 engine.

If the Cadillac Escala concept comes to fruition, then it would essentially take the place of the planned CT8 for the time being. The CT8 program had already been pushed back in favor of consumes’ rapid shift toward crossovers and SUVs.

While we wait for the Escala to officially hit the showroom floor, check out our other fine Cadillac products and contact us now to take your new Cadillac home today!

2016 GMC Yukon Denali: Style and Substance

General Motors has the market cornered in the large SUV market. With the Chevrolet Tahoe, Cadillac Escalade, and the GMC Yukon. GM sold 130,000 of their full size SUVs in 2015, which is more vehicles sold than many brands do in a single year. The GMC Yukon has a extended length version with the Yukon XL and a premium version with the Yukon Denali.

2016 Yukon Denali
The Yukon Denali is an SUV that commands a presence. The exterior of the Yukon Denali Is covered in chrome from head to toe, from the massive grill to the huge 22-inch chrome rims. Massive, crisp LED headlights and taillights shine light onto the whole SUV and complete the look.

The amount of technology they have managed to include in the Denali is also quite impressive. An 8-inch touchscreen driver infotainment is the centerpiece of the Yukon Denali’s dash. A dashboard lined in leather and that is trimmed out in aluminum accents. Underneath it all, the Yukon Denali packs in GMs 4G LTE Wi-Fi, which can pair up to 7 devices. Coupled with a Blu-Ray player in the rear and Bluetooth phone and audio, internet and satellite radio, a wireless charging pad, weather information and text message alerts round out the tech highlights of the Yukon Denali.

GM and Lyft partner to offer car leases for drivers

Everywhere you go now you see more and more Uber and Lyft drivers, so many so, that cab drivers are beginning to be few and far between.

In the first eight months of the year, in Los Angeles alone, almost 18,000 people have been turned down as Lyft drivers. Because they didn’t have a car or their car didn’t met the company’s requirements. This week, those wannabe Lyft drivers have another option. Through a partnership with General Motors called Express Drive, they can lease one on the cheap or even for free if they give enough rides.

Through Lyft's new Express Drive program, Lyft applicants now have the option of leasing a GM vehicle for $150 to $180 per week, including insurance—or for free, if they give at least 75 rides in a week. The weekly leases are $150 or $180 per week and include insurance, maintenance and mileage while driving for Lyft. Drivers have to pay for gas and 25 cents per mile for mileage accrued when they aren’t driving the car for Lyft.

General Motors isn’t the only auto maker to partner with a ride-hailing service. Earlier this year, Toyota partnered with Uber, which itself has a ride-hailing partnership with Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Volkswagen also partnered with the ride-hailing service Gett. But Lyft's Express Drive service with GM marks the first time an auto maker is making its vehicles directly available to ride-hail drivers.

Drivers apply for Express Drive through the Lyft app. If they do not own an eligible vehicle, applicants are asked if they would like to rent a car through GM, which is currently offering two mid-size sedan options: the Malibu and Impala. The sedans were selected for their combination of interior room, trunk space (for airport pickups) and fuel economy. Within a few months, GM will also also offer its compact Cruze sedan, the plug-in hybrid electric Volt and all-electric Bolt subcompact.

Buick is giving you 20% off.

Who doesn’t like a deal? Who wouldn’t want to save 20% on a brand new car?

Buick is making that happen. They are giving you the extra discount on certain models, the Enclave, Encore, Lacrosse and Regal. One thought as to way Buick is being so aggressive to move these vehicles are to make room for the 2017 models.

In the auto industry, Buick has become a niche brand, and one which offers extraordinary discounts to sell cars. The most aggressive of these is the 20% cash back offer on the MSRP of certain models. As an example, the MSRP for the Enclave is $52,685. Cash back to the buyer totals $10,537, just a bit less than the price for the least expensive new car sold in the U.S.–the Nissan Versa at $12,825.

Car discounts meant to drive sales are nearly universal. But, the Buick ones are close to crazy. Are you ready for your Buick? Check out our inventory or contact us today to get yours today!

"Drop everything, Venkman. We got one" - Ghostbusters "Ecto-1" Revamped with Film

For 32 years there has been only one standard if there’s something strange in your neighborhood. We’re not talking about your local authorities in this instance - although they are the go to source for almost any other matter. Starting Friday July 15th, the face of this go to source has…changed some.

Left to Right: Leslie Jones, Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, & Kate McKinnon make up this rebooted franchise cast.

Along with a reboot to the world renowned 1984 film, the car used by the parapsychological team has been revamped as well. To many people, “this is something weird, and it don’t look good”. In preparation for the release of the rebooted upcoming Ghostbusters franchise film, Columbia pictures have been showcasing their newly designed “Ecto-1” mobile.

1984 Ghostbusters "Ecto-1"

The original Ghostbusters release “Ecto-1”was a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Ambulance, which has since been replaced. A 1984 Cadillac Fleetwood with a Eureka Herse body will now take the center lane – a nod to the release of the original franchise film which debuted the same year.

2016 "Ecto-1"
With a 5 liter small block V8 and a whopping 134 hp it may not carry the greatest response time but Cadillacs of that era were built for comfort. Not speed. If you’re looking for something a little more modern, Cadillac does have a few slightly more powerful options. Check out our entire Cadillac Inventory and find the one to fit you and your team – or family just right. After that all you have to do is give us a call. “Who you gonna call?” Mishawaka’s only Cadillac, Buick and GMC Dealer: Gurley Leep Buick GMC Cadillac.

Picture This: The 2017 Buick Envision

Buick is attempting to cover all of its bases in the crossover market-- and doing a great job at that. Who can be the king of the crossover market is who will dominate the auto industry as less and less people are driving SUVs but are still wanting enough space and and the similar style to it. The compacts Encore and Enclave are already solid sellers for the brand, and the Chinese-built Envision Crossover arriving in the United States only continues to bolster and rejuvenate the once fluctuating now strong Buick brand. The Envision starts at $34,990, but for good reason.

The three newer versions come standard with a natural 2.5 liter four-cylinder making 197 horsepower and 192 lb-ft or torque. The six speed automatic transmission gives it a smooth ride. Crossover buyers typically prioritize the interior over the exterior of the vehicle. Envision shoppers will be happy to hear that this may be one of the most comfortable, advanced interiors of any crossover in its class. Heated seats, climate control, a backup camera, blind spot warning, and a remote start all come standard in the base model. Mid levels trims for the vehicle further offer more advanced options like a panoramic sunroof, leather seats, and heated rear seats. All Envision models will have Apple CarPlay.

That is all great, but the most disconcerting element of some CUV shoppers is the gas mileage. No reason for concern in the Envision. The Envision gets 26 MPG ranking near the top of its class and significantly better than some other Buick compact models like the Enclave, which only gets 22 MPG. With gas prices going up, this is an absolute essential piece to consider. If this is the deciding factor, than Envision has to be the car for you.
