GMC Announces the 2017 Terrain Nightfall Edition

Wow. There are not many other words to describe how sleek the new Terrain Nightfall edition looks, especially if you like the all black everything. Not available until the Fall of 2016, GMC was sure to announce this SUV early as the demand will surely be high. GMC calls the Nightfall "a stylized special edition combining blacked-out exterior details and wheels, with popular technologies such as IntelliLink with available 4G LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot."

Armed with 18 inch aluminum wheels, gloss black spokes, a charcoal grill with gloss black surround and accents, gloss black front and rear fascia accents, gloss black rear license plate surround trim, and gloss black outside mirrors and black luggage rails, you truly will be the master of the night if you drive this vehicle. It will be offered in four exterior colors-- Summit White, Onyx Black, Graphite Gray Metallic and Crimson Red Metallic-- but I am struggling to find a reason for anyone to get anything but the Onyx Black.

“Building on its best year ever, Terrain continues to attract new and style-conscious customers to GMC,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “The new Terrain Nightfall Edition adds another great-looking and well-equipped choice for this popular SUV – one that will stand out in a crowd.”

As one of GMC's highest selling vehicles, it is no surprise that the American auto industry staple has added this new sexy style to the already popular Terrain. It is for a good reason too that this vehicle is so popular. Whether it is the 32 MPG (incredible for an SUV of its stature) or the GMC IntelliLink with a 7-inch-diagonal color touchscreen along with available 4G LTE connectivity and Wi-Fi hotspot, this SUV has something for all tastes. Equipped with only the best technology, safety was made a priority in this Terrain. Safety features include six standard air bags and a standard rear-vision camera. Available active safety features include Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, Forward Collision Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Rear Park Assist.

Kelley Blue Book Names GMC 'Most Refined Brand'

GMC is back at again stacking awards for their whole line of vehicles. This time, Kelley Blue Book named GMC the 'Most Refined Brand' for 2016, marking GMC's third straight year receiving the KBB Brand Image Award. What is this award based upon? Kelley Blue Book bases it off of consumer perception data which they have acquired through their Insights' Brand Watch study. Brand Watch tracks the study through more than 12,000 in-market new vehicle shoppers through KBB.com. The study combines important factors such as influences in their purchasing decision and capturing the brand/model familiarity and loyalty among new-vehicle shoppers.

GMC Denali was the most successful, receiving the highest rating of all all SUVs. Among its highest ratings were comfort, interior layout, technology, prestige, and sophistication. This is not the first time that Denali has been praised in these awards, as KBB's users love this vehicle for it maintaining a rugged person that isn't offered by other luxury automakers.

The secret to the success. Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC, believes it is simple. "Premium quality and exterior styling are the top two reasons customers choose GMC vehicles, Aldred said. "Unprecedented refinement and attention to detail provide our customers with a truly professional grade experience."

Since the inception of Denali in 1999, over 850,000 units have been sold. This sub-brand of GMC accounted for 23% of GMC retail sales in 2015, producing better numbers than the luxury brands of Land Rover, Jaguar, and Porsche. Denali has stacked up many awards this year. Besides this one, it most recently was awarded the best car for families by US News. It is no surprise to us that GMC is being recognized again?. Is there even a vehicle that compares to it?

ArcelorMittel Named a GM Supplier of the Year

Congratulations to ArcelorMittel on being named a General Motors "Supplier of the Year" for 2015.  The criteria for achieving GM's top honor is stringent, and this is the third consecutive year that the company has been so honored.

ArcelorMittel was acknowledged for their excellence in developing and providing steel products and solution for General Motors brands.  New Carlisle companies IN/ TEK and IN/ KOTE are part of ArcelorMittel.  “This honor is a clear reflection of ArcelorMittal’s solid contribution to provide GM customers with the best vehicles and services in the industry,” said Steve Kiefer, GM vice president, global purchasing and supply chain for General Motors).

“It’s one thing to reach top level performance in anything; it’s a completely different thing to stay on top year after year,” said Brad Davey, chief marketing officer, ArcelorMittal North America and Global Automotive. “Competitors know what you did and how you’ve done it to get on top. They will copy you and surpass you unless you continuously improve and reinvent yourself. We’ve done a great job at this in everything we offer to GM and Ford, and that is why we’ve achieved consecutive top rankings from both.”

Congratulations, ArcelorMittal!

GMC Trucks Among Most Likely to Reach 200K

Road and Track wrote an article on which vehicles on the road are most likely to reach 200,000 miles.  Not surprisingly, GMC trucks dominated the list.
GMC Sierra 2500 HD

With it's 6.0 liter Vortec® V-8 engine, and Allison 1000 6-speed automatic transmission, the GMC Sierra is built not only to last, but to last while doing all of the work, hauling and towing.  The Sierra 2500 HD is the definition of a work truck.

The GMC Yukon and Yukon XL also made the list of most likely to reach 200,000 miles. The Yukon's EcoTec 3 V-8 engine is optimized to deliver horsepower, torque and fuel economy in addition to longevity.

The Yukon and Yukon XL are not only amazing people-haulers, they are also built for work.  With a maximum towing capacity of a whopping 8,400 pounds and payload of 1590, the Yukon is by no means a slacker.  Check out our entire line of GMC trucks at Gurley Leep GMC.

Buick Rocks the Detroit Auto Show with the Avista Concept

Surprises always abound at the Detroit Auto Show.  Part of the fun is to see who comes up with either the most outlandish concept, or better yet, the concept that we would most like to see in production.  This year, Buick got the crowd buzzing early by debuting the Avista concept car.

Based on GM's Alpha platform (yes, the same platform as the Chevy Camaro), the Avista is a 400-horsepower luxury coupe.  It is powered by a 3.0 liter, twin turbo V6, and is rear-wheel drive.  To put things in perspective, Buick hasn't produced a coupe since the front-wheel drive Riviera back in 1999.

"There is elegant simplicity in the Avista's surfaces, which speak to the purity of the car's performance, and a timeless beauty that's a hallmark of Buick design," said Bryan Nesbitt, executive director Global Buick Design in a press release. "It was designed to capture the spirit of the perfect drive."
